YP Bargaining Update - November 3, 2015
There have been numerous inquiries as to where we are with bargaining and why it appears to be taking more time than in previous contract years and this update is being provided to clear up some of the confusion.
First, due to the spin-off of the print organization (Print Media), we have been tasked with negotiating two separate contracts – one for Print Media and one for YP Holdings. In of itself, this may appear to be a simple task however it is more complex than might be imagined. The Print Media company consists of employees with on average decades of service and the issues regarding that contract have absorbed a great deal of our attention.
Secondly, YP Holdings and it’s predecessor companies have for years operated as a non-traditional sales organization and the time has come for that model to evolve into an operation more in sync with today’s challenges and that involves an in-depth review and in some cases, revision to the current language or complete deletion of the articles that no longer apply in today’s environment.
Finally, YP Holdings has not formally proposed a new compensation plan. The company has professed that they understand our concerns over the current compensation plan and how it is negatively impacting our members and forcing good people to seek out opportunities elsewhere.
We are committed to ensuring that a more realistic and mutually rewarding bargaining agreement is reached.
We thank-you for your support and ask for your continued patience.
