NDCA Bargaining Report #1

The Union and Company kicked off bargaining on Monday afternoon. The Company presented information on the state of the business and how the internet and smart phones have impacted the number of calls received. Wireless call volumes have declined by 39.85% and wireline by 37.7%.The Company stated it was still committed to this industry and continued to look for ways to grow this segment of the business.

The Union informed the Company that, even though the call volume was declining, its members continued to work hard providing the best service to its customers and were dedicated to making this service the “go to” service for its customers. These members work hard to please the customer and deserve to be rewarded across the bargaining table.

The committee met again on Tuesday morning and afternoon. The Union passed its economic proposals across the table, including proposals to increase wages, pensions, incentive pay and improve benefits.

The Company passed proposals on the definition of seniority, vacation accrual, accurate reporting and paying of time and tuition aid.

The various proposals were discussed and the teams recessed to research and study the proposals.
