Take Action to Stop AT&T?s Latest Proposals To Shift Health Care Costs to Workers
As you know it has been 46 days since contracts with AT&T Legacy T; AT&T Midwest (Ameritech); AT&T West (PACBELL); AT&T Northeast (SNET) expired. The AT&T Southeast (BellSouth) contract will expire on August 4, 2012. Little progress is being made at the bargaining table.
Despite its enormous profits, AT&T is trying to shift approximately $3,800 more in health care costs to workers. That's over 12% of the annual wage of some AT&T workers; it's more than 6% of the average wage of all bargaining unit members.
But that might be just the beginning. The company is also asking for the right to increase costs whenever they like.
Like most Americans, AT&T workers don't have thousands of extra dollars to spend on health care. We need to take action to stop these cost shifts NOW.
Here's what you can do: Send an electronic postcard to AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson and VP of Labor Relations Mark Royce. Let them know we will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to protect our families' health care.
Sign the postcard at http://www.cwa-union.org/postcard. Sign it now. Ask your relatives to sign it today. Post it on your FACEBOOK page. Tell your friends. Call them. Email them. Tweet them. We should be able to generate thousands of these.
