Vice President Judy Dennis meeting with Randall Stephenson
Recently I had the opportunity to have a one-on-one meeting with Randall Stephenson to discuss issues impacting our members in District 3.
With the current economic situation, jobs in the Southeast were the main focus of our conversation. AT&T is planning to open positions in the Cellular and Uverse part of the company. I encouraged Mr. Stephenson to place opportunities for any and all types of work in the Southeast based on the hard work by our members which is reflective in the Southeast results.
Mutual respect and open communications was another area of concern which we spent a significant amount of time on. I advised Mr. Stephenson that without notification of new policies, changes and open communication between Labor Relations, Network, Consumer and CWA leadership, we would all continue to deal with internal turmoil and lack of focus on more important issues. He agreed and committed to discuss in his senior management meeting the importance and benefits of improved communication.
In order to improve communications for the District, I requested Mike Matthews set up an Operations Board Meeting in the 1st Quarter. (About three years ago, when the move was made to go to a National Structure, CWA and the Company agreed to discontinue the Operations Board.)
A meeting has been set in the 1st Quarter for the President’s Council whereby the CWA Vice Presidents will meet with senior management to discuss issues and concerns of CWA.
In Unity,
