CWA-DirectTV Effects Bargaining Report #1 - July 29, 2021
Effects bargaining between CWA and AT&T kicked off this week, via virtual conference, regarding the sale of DirecTV.
CWA District 6 Assistant to Vice President, Sylvia J. Ramos, is chairing the bargaining for CWA. Bargaining kicked off with District 6 Vice President Claude Cummings opening statements demanding that our members be treated fairly in the upcoming transition and stated that CWA was committed to ensuring that all bargaining unit members continue to be treated justly as this transition moves forward.
AT&T and the NEW DirecTV advised CWA that they will be assuming all contracts that cover our members. While this was certainly a positive step, CWA began effects bargaining with AT&T to ensure our members wages, benefits and working conditions will be protected until successor contracts are negotiated with DirecTV.
Discussions this week centered on understanding the transition of our bargaining unit, collective bargaining agreements as well as our health and welfare plans, programs and policies. The CWA and Company committees have had several discussions with regards to contractual provisions and are awaiting responses from the company regarding additional issues and concerns that we have raised.
We will provide updates accordingly as additional information becomes available.
