131 Florida workers vote CWA (Embarq/CenturyLink Technician)
District 3 Organizing Coordinator Liz Roberson reports that the election for 131 Embarq/CenryLink Technician resulted in a win with the vote of 60 yes and 59 no votes with 1 challenged ballot. The NLRB held a hearing on January 4th to decided if the ballot should be opened and on January 27th issued the decision that the ballot should not be opened and recommended that CWA should be the bargaining Representative for the unit. The Company had seven days in which to appeal this decision, but today the company sent out an email to the Technician stating they would honor the NLRB decision and recognize CWA as the bargaining representative. Thanks to Greg Douglas lead technician, who collected 65 membership cards prior to the Election on November 9, 2012. We would also like to thank the President of local 3176 Bob Campbell, the executive board of Local 3176, JWJ, Local 3108, and Reyna Gonzalez,OPEIU, Staff, Bill Eberhardt, Marie Mallett for all their work to make this campaign a success.
