2011 CWA/ATT Mobility Puerto Rico Bargaining Report #1

CWA and AT&T Puerto Rico Mobility Bargaining kicked off yesterday afternoon. District 3 Vice President along with your bargaining team visited several company locations earlier in the day to assist in Mobilization activities.

After the activities your Mobility Bargaining committee met with AT&T Company representatives. Vice President Judy Dennis, Administrative Director Betty Witte, along with Mobility Vice President of Labor Relations Neil Keith and Steve Frost, Mobility Executive Director of Labor relations gave opening comments. After they left, each Chair of the committee gave opening remarks prior to start of bargaining. Company Chair Victor Menendez gave the basic poor economy, competitive environment and their need to sustain the business comments. CWA Chair Gerald Souder gave opening remarks emphasizing the importance of our Mobility members in making AT&T successful and our demand that they share in the success of the company.

After the remarks and discussion on the logistics of the bargaining we recessed until this morning. Immediately after finishing there was a rally in front of the hotel where bargaining takes place. The rally was attended by VP Judy Dennis, Betty Witte, your bargaining team, Nestor Soto, President CWA Local 33225 UPAGRA with many of his Local members, John Vigueras, AFL-CIO Mobilization and Organization Director. Local 3010 had support from members from many locations across Puerto Rico.

Highlights of the rally will be on the D3 web site. During the sustained rally and informational picketing the company left the building to go out for dinner. They heard our demand for a fair contract loud and clear and hopefully it caused heartburn!

Bargaining reports will be posted every day we meet.

The contract expires Friday February 18th.

In Unity,

Your CWA Mobility Bargaining team
