2011 CWA/ATT Mobility Puerto Rico Bargaining Report #8
Your bargaining Committee met with the Company Thursday afternoon to continue discussions. The company said they were rejecting the Union’s proposal regarding subcontracting as they needed to have flexibility and previously had stated they have been contracting out work at Cingular for ten decades. The company then presented a counter proposal to the Union’s issue on minimum rest time between extended work periods. The Union said we would consider the change and get back to them. The Company presented another counter proposal to address the Union concern regarding Article 17 – Company Union Relationship. The Union asked clarifying questions and said they will respond later. That is all the company had for this session.
The Union passed a counter proposal to the company’s proposed changes in Article 21 – Absence. The Union proposed to permit use of the sick days in less than two (2) hour increments. The company asked for examples of where that is an issue. The Union provided examples and the reason the change is needed. The company said they would consider and get back to us. The Union then said we could Tentatively Agree (T/A) to the company response on Union proposal for Article 15 – Non Discrimination. The Union then requested the company policy on travel outside the Territory of Puerto Rico so it can be determined if it meets the need of the membership who may be required to travel. The company said they will provide a copy and explain.
Neither party had anything else to present so we recessed to continue to work on additional proposals, prepare minutes and reports.
We are scheduled to meet again Friday morning. A Bargaining Report will be issued after conclusion of any meetings unless it is too late in the day to get the report posted.
