2015 CWA Print Media Bargaining Report #11

Monday, September 28, 2015 -- The Bargaining Committee met with the company today and discussed the Company’s proposed changes to Article 7 Force Adjustments. The Company is determined to revise the language in Article 7 so as to side step seniority rights in the event of a surplus. The Company desires to eliminate “bumping” and inverse seniority selection in the event of a surplus. The Company invited Angela Sweatt, PM Director to explain her rationale for wanting changes to the language. The Company has claimed that print revenue is declining by 30% and has insinuated that unless these changes are made, the Company may be forced to reduce the work force in the future. The Bargaining Committee invited Betty Witte, Assistant Director CWA District 3 to address the Unions position on why any changes to this language is tantamount to disenfranchising the Union from the Company.

The next meeting with the Company is scheduled for Tuesday September 29, 2015.
