City of Jacksonville Bargaining Report 6 & 7
Your Bargaining Committee continued negotiations with the City of Jacksonville. The District 3 CWA Bargaining Committee consist of Kevin Kimber, CWA Staff Representative, Ann Rivers- President 3106 and Edward Lukacovic Steward Local 3106.
The City of Jacksonville has passed a proposal trying to change the current pension plan, this proposal is for any new hires after ratification. Their proposed plan is a 401k type of pension plan for all new hires. CWA has concerns with this type of pension plan and we currently researching all options. With the new city proposed pension plan, the city has also offered a wage increase for 3 years. CWA has several proposals prepared to pass to the City.
CWA reached out to all the other locals that are currently bargaining with the City of Jacksonville to make sure we are all consistent in our message when we are talking with them since the pension involves everybody. We had our first face to face meeting union caucus on Saturday November 19th 2016 to discuss on how to be consistent in our message of unification. We are in constant communication via email. I believe if all the Unions stand firm as one, we should be successful in this round of bargaining. We are back at the table February 10, 2017. Your CWA bargaining committee needs your support.
