CWA D3 ATT SE Utilities Bargaining Report #5

Your Utilities Bargaining committee met yesterday morning and afternoon with AT&T Company representatives in continued discussions over contractual issues that we believe need improvements. In addition, benefit items are being discussed at the Common Interest table.

The company passed a modified proposal on accrued vacations and explained the intent. The company proposed additional language to our proposal on bridging service after recall. The Union team will consider the proposals and respond later. The company then rejected Union proposals on travel expenses, termination pay increases, and limits on forced overtime.

The Union rejected the company proposal on pay for Union representatives during investigatory meetings. We then recessed to evaluate company proposals and prepare responses.

The Union and the company resumed the meeting in the afternoon. After discussion and clarification, the Union Tentatively Agreed (T/A) to the company proposal on clean up language in Article 1, 7, 8 and APPX A that did not change any intent. The Union also passed another modified proposal on increasing termination pay. The company stated they would look at it, but again said it would increase the cost to the business. They said Utility Ops is a cost center, not a revenue producer. The company then rejected our proposal to add sickness payments.

After further discussion regarding the company’s lack of response to our data request and the fact we are four days away from contract expiration, we recessed for the day.

Your committee will continue to work on proposals and responses to the company proposals. Updated reports will be issued after we meet again

In Unity,
