Oscar Denton - Newest member of the Mississippi House of Representatives
Who is Oscar Denton? I am proud to say he is one of our own! A CWAer!
As a new Staff Rep in Mississippi, I had the privilege of meeting Oscar at numerous conferences. He was the former CWA President of Local 3518, Vicksburg, MS and currently holds a seat as an Executive Vice President of the MS State AFL-CIO. He is a remarkable young man, full of the political fire that Mississippi needs. With Oscar’s help we will have a strong union voice in our efforts to build a movement for the working people. He will be an asset to the Mississippi House of Representatives!

CWA Staff Representative - Mississippi
Below is his bio from The Pulse:
The newest member of the Mississippi House of Representatives hailing from Vicksburg is Representative-Elect Oscar Denton. Denton won decisively in a crowded field to replace former Rep. George Flaggs who was elected mayor of Vicksburg this past summer. Denton won with over 55% of the vote.
Denton ran on a platform of Jobs & Economic Development, Education, and Healthcare. His message clearly resonated with the voters and represent priorities that will be front and center when the legislature convenes in January. I am thrilled that we have another ally in the legislature who will fight for more jobs, fully funding MAEP, affordable and accessible healthcare and ensuring protections for our workers!
Oscar, a CWA union member who worked for AT&T for over 39 years, was endorsed by the Mississippi AFL-CIO, MASE/CWA and the Mississippi Association of Teachers among others. The PULSE congratulates Rep. Denton and looks forward to working with him in the near future!
